Detroit Corner Business

Here’s a far too common sight in many areas of urban Detroit. The corners of Mack Ave. and Beaufait St. on Detroit’s south east side. This partiular working girl was one of a handful that worked this corner in 2006.

Car Thieves At Work

This is an actual shot of car thieves preparing to strip the van for parts. Later what was left of the van was dragged a couple blocks away and set on fire. The destoyed and abandoned building was once the thriving business of Coldform Fasteners in Detroit at 3278 Bellevue Street.

Urban Disaster

This is an actual street that just looks like an alley used for dumping. Shot in the summer of 2007 and has looked this way for years. It’s Bellevue just south of Palmer on Detroit’s east side.

Mail Call

It was the perfect day in August of 2006. J. W. Westcott Co. delivering the mail to the Calumet, a 603-foot, 5,800-ton ship. The Calumet was retirement and scrapped after 78 years of service in December of 2007.

I think this is one of my better photographs. It was a very hot summer day in Detroit. It may not please the water company or fire department but these folks found a little relief from the heat while having a blast. 2007
